Families in a previously sedate residential street said theor lives and homes are being destroyed by motorway widening works.

Residents in Parkfield, Chorleywood, who were subjected to noise levels in advance of 100 decibels, were shocked to find large cracks appearing in the walls and ceilings as the M25 widening work began.

Pictures fell from walls and cats ran for their lives as frequent “earthquakes” shook the area.”

Mum-of-two Mandy Cooper said “The house literally shakes at times; you can feel the walls moving around you.”

Contractor Skanska Balfour Beatty is continuing discussions with residents about repairing ht damage to their homes.
