Members of a Bushey senior citizens' group will be enjoying clarity at their meetings as their application for a council grant has been accepted.

St James' Senior Citizens Club will use the £600 donation from Hertfordshire County Councillor Seamus Quilty to buy a new PA system, including a microphone, speaker and a secure box for it.

The club has 60 members aged 70 and over and many regulars suffer from hearing difficulties.

Club organiser Molly Brain said: “I thought it would be some time before we could raise enough money to buy the equipment.

“We are very grateful to Councillor Quilty for his kind donation.”

The group, which meets every other Monday at Church House in Bushey High Street, took advantage of cash available through the locality budget, allocated by Councillor Quilty, who represents Bushey South.

Councillor Quilty said: “I was pleased to be able to offer my support to the club, and am sure all their members will enjoy the new equipment.”
