Katie price...now Katie Reid

Bold, done up, never one to blend in or to be without a full face on....this could only be, Katie Price. Some of you may know that, yesterday (Tuesday) she got married to 'boxer champion' Alex Reid, who is, disappointingly, actually more famous for being the winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2010.

The service took place In Vegas, at 4pm. Like many others, I woke up to hear this news on the radio. I was shocked to say the least; they have experienced the definition of a rocky relationship. But, it suddenly occurred to me, did she marry him for his money after winning Big Brother? Surely, she doesn't need his money as she is supposedly a very successful business woman with many books, clothing ranges and perfume, but it did raise questions in my mind. To be honest, I feel quite sorry for him; he has openly stated how madly in love he is with her and she managed to dump him on National Television and muck him around something crazy.

The last time she said “I do”, it was a lavish, Cinderella-themed wedding – but the fairy tale did end in tears. This time Katie Price has been said to have gone about things very differently. She simply married Alex in a "hush hush wedding" in Vegas out of the blue. Apparently, it was a private, simple ceremony - this was also quite shocking as it is very different to the normal image of Katie Price.

How long will it last? This summer saw the divorce of Katie and Peter Andre, after a four year relationship, but, it was said that he was the one who ended it with her and that she had been hoping to get back with him. Peter was not interested in any of this and then Katie found a new man. Is she genuinely over Pete? Or is this just a distraction from Pete? Or maybe it is genuine? I guess, time will tell and what will be, will be.

Natasha, your post raised two questions in my mind.
First, how could anyone be 'shocked' by news of a celebrity wedding? Is this just a loose use of language? After all, for most people a parent murdering their children is shocking; 200,000 people killed by an earthquake is shocking - so isn't your reaction excessive? If the news did really shock you what do you think that says about you?
Second, in a world full of all kinds of wonders and challenges can't you find something more worthwhile to concern you than a celebrity and a minor one at that? I realize that no one wants to spend every waking hour agonizing on the plight of the world's poor, or climate change, or studying Zen and that some people find an absorbing interest in things others find dull like train spotting or collecting beer mats - but really Katie Price?

Love this Tasha.... a nice bit of light-hearted, happy news compared to the disheartening news we are all used to. x
