Watford MP Claire Ward has signed up to the Breast Cancer Campaign’s breast cancer research pledge.

Ms Ward, a justice minister, has promised her continued support for vital research that saves and improves the lives of people with breast cancer and for the Charity Research Support Fund, which helps towards the infrastructure costs of charity research, such as university laboratory heating and lighting coasts.

She said: “Over the past decade I have supported the increased investment, which this Government has put into cancer services, not least screening, as well as research.

“I have seen the real difference this has made in Watford and it is something reflected in the vastly improved cancer survival rates since 1997. More must be done - the Government announced last year radical plans to offer all patients the right to cancer tests and results within one week, helping save up to 10,000 lives a year.

“I strongly believe that we can beat breast cancer and government must continue to plays its part. That’s why I am squarely behind the breast cancer research pledge.”
