More CCTV cameras will be introduced to the Queen’s Road area in the coming weeks, as residents fight back against criminal and antisocial behaviour.
The cameras, to be fitted to the outside of Tantivy Court, in Queen’s Place, were announced at a meeting of the Queen’s Road Community Action Group last night.
They will combine with recently installed units at the Amber Rooms pub over the road to give police a better field of vision.
New CCTV signs will also be installed above the pub.
Watford Borough Council antisocial behaviour officer Liam Fitzgerald, who obtained the necessary funding, said the cameras would help tackle problems in the building and also drug dealing in the nearby area.
The cameras are the latest in a string of successes for the group, which held its first public meeting in November. To date it has successfully lobbied for better lighting, increased police patrols and structural alterations to prevent groups of drunks congregating.
