A new Tesco Express store will open in north Watford next week.
More than 200 people applied for one of the 12 jobs created at supermarket, in St Albans Road, which will open for trading at 10.30am on Friday, March 19.
The store will celebrate its launch by presenting a £500 donation to Knutsford Primary School. Pupils from the school, in Knutsford Avenue, will cut the ribbon to officially open the shop.
Headteacher Ray Randall said: “The staff and pupils would like to thank Tesco for the kind donation, and we are all really looking forward to the launch. The money will be a huge help, and is greatly appreciated.”
Eric Mensah, store manager, said the supermarket was hoping to play an active role in the community.
He said: “We are delighted to be able to support Knutsford Primary School. We are really glad that pupils are coming to the new store and join in the celebrations with us. My staff and I are really looking forward to welcoming customers in the new store and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”
