A Garston school has paid tribute to a "hard working" former pupil who died last week following a road traffic collision.
Daniel Gibb, 25, was killed when his Honda CBR 600 motorbike collided with a green minibus along the A507 in Clifton, Bedfordshire, at about 5.15am on Friday, March 5.
Mr Gibb, a serving officer with the Metropolitan Police and who lived in Bedford, was a former pupil St Catherine of Siena School and St Michael's Catholic High School, both in Garston.
His parents still live in the area.
Gary Power, deputy headteacher at St Michael's, in High Elms Lane, taught Mr Gibb A-Level geography.
And he said the whole school community was “shocked” by news of the police officer's death.
Mr Power said: “It's a bit of a shock to us all. The lad we knew at school was delightful. He carried himself with dignity and quietness but was known for his dry sense of humour.
“He was never in trouble and worked hard. It's a sad loss to the whole school community.
“He performed well and worked really hard. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
An inquest, which was opened and adjourned on the same day as the collision, found Mr Gibb died from cerebral contusions and a fracture of the base of the skull.
Members of staff from St Michael's will represent the school at Mr Gibb's funeral, to be held at West Herts Crematorium tomorrow (Friday).
