BT customers in Hertfordshire blighted by broadband cable damage

Internet users in Hertfordshire have been hit with broadband problems after fibre cables were damaged.

BT suffered “third party damage” to the cables between Hemel Hempstead and Luton, which the company said was affecting “some services”.

A BT representative said: “Engineers have been on-site and we have been making good progress in repairing the affected cables.

“We were aware that this was affecting around 42,000 broadband users in the area [Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire] but in the vast majority of cases these should now be working normally. We will continue to do all we can to get all this work completed as quickly as is possible.”

Funny, that.

I posted a question about this yesterday, which has subsequently been removed.

However, having spoken with a friend who works for BT, I can shed some light on the Broadband Troubles.

Manhole covers HAVE been removed by a team of 'do-as-you-likeys' and the underlying cables stolen.

I just wonder how many W.O hacks have even bothered to investigate this criminal activity?
