A police officer who was killed when his motorbike collided with a minibus has been described as “professional and committed” by his colleagues.

PC Daniel Gibb died in the collision on the A507 near Clifton, Bedfordshire, last Friday, March 5.

He was a former St Catherine of Siena and St Michael's Catholic High School pupil and though he made his home in Bedford, his family still live in Garston.

His funeral was held today at West Herts Crematorium in Garston.

PC Gibb, 25, joined the Metropolitan Police in August 2004 and was posted to Camden Borough, where he served until joining the Territorial Support Group in June 2009.

Although, PC Gibb had only been with the Territorial Support Group (TSG) for six months, he was highly regarded amongst his colleagues and known as a professional, committed officer with a good sense of humour.

Chief Superintendent Mick Johnson, head of the TSG, said: “Daniel was an extremely popular and active member of the Territorial Support Group, who was a credit to the unit and the Metropolitan Police Service.

"The loss of a valued colleague in such sudden, tragic circumstances is exacerbated by the fact that Daniel’s father, Ali, is a Sergeant also working at the same Territorial Support Group base.

"It was a source of intense pride to Ali that Daniel was successful in being selected for the TSG. Our thoughts and sympathy are with Daniel’s parents, brother and girlfriend."
