Hertsmere residents and business owners are being invited to put questions to their council at a meeting next month.

The first five received will be put on the agenda for the full council meeting while any others will be responded to in writing in the Information Digest.

Anyone who is a resident or owns a business or premises in the borough may submit questions which must relate to a matter within the council's remit.

Questions may not seek Data Act protected information or ask about specific decisions taken, or to be taken, as part of the council's regulatory functions, such as a licence or planning applications.

They must also be limited to one subject and, though respondents will not have to directly read their questions out at the meeting, the appropriate executive councillor will provide a response.

The deadline is midday on Wednesday, April 7, and the meeting takes place on April 21.

Questions should be addressed to Question time - April 2010, Democratic Services, Hertsmere Borough Council, Civic Offices, Elstree Way, Borehamwood, Herts, WD6 1WA.
