Pupils collected £500 for their school at the opening of a new supermarket in north Watford.
Children from Knutsford Primary School, in Knutsford Avenue, were invited to cut the ribbon and officially open the new branch of Tesco Express, in St Albans Road, on Friday.
And store manager Eric Mensah was on hand to present them with a cheque, as part of Tesco's pledge to help the local community.
Ray Randall, headteacher at Knutsford, said: “We are delighted that the school has benefited from the opening of the new store and would like to thank Tesco for the kind donation.
“The money will be used towards providing expert speakers for themed assemblies to add to the learning and enjoyment of our pupils.”
Eric added: “We are all really pleased to support Knutsford School and so glad that pupils came to launch the new store and join in the celebrations with us. My staff and I are really enjoying welcoming our customers into the new store and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”
