A FORMER egg farm in Kings Langley which was transformed into an energy efficient commercial building has been nominated for a top design award.
Beaufort Court in Egg Farm Lane is one of four buildings nominated for The Royal Institute of British Architect's Sustainability Award.
The building, originally built by Ovaltine in 1932 as an egg hatchery is now the head office of Renewable Energy Systems, a firm which develops and builds wind turbine technology.
London-based Studio E Architects used technology such as wind turbines and photovoltaics to create a building which is entirely energy independent.
The development included a new single storey turf-roofed building.
The £4.8million development was completed last year.
