Borehamwood Bowls Club opened its competitive matches on Saturday, May 3, by winning against Whithern.
The men won by 79-58. The top rink was: John Roe, Eric Witney, Peter Job and Bill Maunder.
The ladies won by 42-36. The top rink was: Tina Job, Ivy Eales, Maud Maunder and Margaret Moseley.
On Sunday, the men lost to Watford in a league match and, after several recounts, the score was deemed to be 50-51. The top rink for Borehamwood was: Arthur Muir, Ray Parkins, Neville Simons and D Putman. On Bank Holiday Monday, the winners of the spoon drive were Kay Stocker, Irene Allen and Audrey Page.
