POLICE are warning residents in the district to take extra care over securing their sheds and garages as part of Hertfordshire Constabulary's latest Blue Light campaign against household burglary.

Theft from sheds increase around this time of year but police warn that people should take certain measures to keep their out-buildings safe.

Crime prevention officer DC Andy Reynolds said: "Residents should consider the value of the property they are keeping in their sheds and garages and not store valuable items such as bicycles, golf clubs and fishing gear in them unless it has additional security.

"You may also consider extending the house intruder alarm system into the shed or garage with a wire-free link."

Police also recommend that smaller valuable items are placed in secure metal boxes. More information and advice about crime prevention is available on 01727 796020.
