DOG enthusiast Pauline Dinnage was over the moon when her dog won a top national award.

Ms Dinnage, of Northwick Rd, South Oxhey, entered her Afghan hound, Sochera's the Enchantment - better known as Tasha - in the Vetzyme Pick of the Litter Competition.

She and breeder, Sue Green were delighted when Tasha claimed first place in the hound group in the showing series.

Ms dinnage said: "We are thrilled. We've never entered anything like this before and can't believe we've done so well.

"Tasha is a very happy, outgoing and mischievous character and enjoys life to the full both at home and in the ring."

The event, is supported by Seven Seas Pet and Animal Health Care and runs throughout the year, with points gained at dog shows all over the country being accumulated to find the Vetzyme Pup of the Year.

The awards, open to dogs up to a year old took place at Chesford Grange Hotel near Kennilworth and were presented by well-known TV personality and former Blue Peter presenter, Peter Purves who entertained everyone with tales from his many years presenting at Crufts.

Mr purves said: "The Vetzyme Pick of the Litter awards are great fun for everyone involved and the competition goes from strength to strength."
