THE county's emergency services are well equipped to deal with a terrorist attack, it was claimed this week.
In the event of an attack, HESMIC, the Hertfordshire Emergency Services Major Incidents Committee, would co-ordinate the work of the police, the county council, the district councils, the ambulance service and fire and rescue teams.
Chairman Bill Ogley said: "We want to reassure Hertfordshire residents that all these organisations continuously work together to ensure that the best possible plans are in place to deal with a major incident in the county."
HESMIC says that in the event of an emergency people should stay indoors and listen to a local radio station on a battery powered radio.
People are also advised to have plenty of bottled water, ready-to-eat food, blankets and a torch. For further information visit <http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk> and <http://www.ukresilience.com>.
