Finchley 14 Civil Service 22
Middlesex Cup quarter-final
Finchley missed out on the chance of a place in the semi-finals after a battling performance on Saturday.
Despite missing a penalty early on, a Civil Service 22-metre drop-out led to Finchley number eight Lee Myall setting up a ruck which winger Mark George profited from to score beneath the posts.
Although the visitors fought back with a try of their own shortly after, Finchley increased their advantage with a 35th-minute converted try scored by Myall. When Civil Service scored just before the break to leave the score at 14-12 an exciting half looked on the cards.
However, ill-discipline cost Finchley dear as they conceded numerous penalties which the visitors duly took full advantage of.
This Saturday Finchley visit Welwyn, kick-off 3.00pm.
