Hendon 34 Mill Hill 22
Herts/Middlesex League Division Three (North)
Hendon ensured they had more than the club's 70th anniversary to celebrate at their evening bash by winning a tough encounter against local rivals Mill Hill.
Despite trailing to a an early Mill Hill try, the home side responded and raced into a 17-5 half time lead thanks to tries from John Diviney, Alex Singleton and Laurence Lennon.
A quick try after the break by Mill Hill reduced the deficit, but a Paul Kerrigan score and a Lee Linale conversion appeared to give Hendon some breathing space.
But when Mill Hill battled their way to within two points of the home side a grand-stand finish was ensured.
The match was only sewn up by two injury-time tries from Kerrigan and Singleton.
