YOUTH FOOTBALL: Mill Hill Rangers are tonight holding an open evening at Mill Hill Sports Club, Grahame Park Way,(April 10) for anyone interested in joining any of the club's teams.

Players are being sought for all sides from U7s up to U12s, for summer six-a-side tournaments and next season.

HORSE RACING: Barnet jockey Chris Catlin got his turf flat season off to a perfect start when winning the group 3 Gladness Stakes at the Curragh, County Kildare, Ireland, on Sunday.

The 20-year-old rode Millennium Force for his boss Mick Channon in the £29,000 seven-furlong event. He beat the Dermot Weld-trained One More Round by a neck. The winner was Catlin's 13th of 2003.

BOWLS: Alan Cawdell and Margaret Swift will represent Glebelands in next season's Champion of Champions events after winning the men's and women's finals on Sunday.

However, Cawdell was out of luck in the Middlesex County Bowling Association Champion of Champions final while Brian Broad, Reg Finnimore and Bob Middleton were beaten in the triples final.

GOLF: East Barnet Golf Club's Richard Harris got the new season off to a tremendous start when winning the Allard Trophy on Sunday.

Last year's captain held off the challenge of Derek Matthews, who finished second after beating Harry Pound on countback.

Next week the club will be holding its first medal competition of the year.

GYMNASTICS: Three gymnasts from Hendon Sports Centre will represent London in the national gymnastics finals after fine performances in the recent London Gymnastics Federation compulsory championships.

Lucy Shaffer, Angeline Wee and Connie Ito will head to Kettering early next month to take part in the national finals.

GOLF: James Griffin was the player of the day at Old Fold Manor Golf Club when he won the April Medal Division One title on Saturday.

As well as winning the Division One trophy, Griffin also recorded the best scratch score of the day. Mel Ellis took the Division Two competition with Colin Bull winning the Division Three trophy.
