ANY slim hopes that St Albans City may have harboured of snatching the Ryman Premier League from under the noses of Aldershot Town and Canvey Island were firmly ended on Saturday after an emphatic 6-1 defeat at Jeff King's Canvey side.
Four goals from Lee Boylan paved the way for Canvey's rout although a sluggish St Albans did little to help themselves after an ineffective performance.
Canvey opened the scoring in the first minute when Lee Protheroe crossed for Boylan before Ollie Berquez increased the lead.
Corey Campbell did pull one back with a header from Andy Lodge's corner although goals from Chris Duffy, and three more for the prolific Boylan sealed victory.
