FOOD is not the only thing on the menu at The Dining Rooms in Radlett, which opened this week.

The restaurant, situated next to the Red Lion Hotel in Watling Street, also doubles as a gallery, each month featuring work by a different artist.

Previously a carvery-style establishment, the restaurant and wine bar has been redesigned and refurbished by Youngs Brewery as a showcase for art.

Hertfordshire artist Amanda Jones was present at the launch on Wednesday, which was also attended by Mayor of Hertsmere Stuart Nagler. Her work, which includes glass, ceramics, collagraphs and monoprints, will be enjoyed by visitors to The Dining Rooms for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, and will also be available to buy.

She will be followed by Mr Rolf Harris, whose exhibition will be launched on Tuesday, May 20, and another local artist Sharon Gee on Tuesday, June 10.

Mrs Sun Grundy, who is managing the restaurant with her husband Stewart, described the fare on offer as traditional English cooking, offering anything from light bites to a four-course meal, as well as coffee and cakes.

The art is sourced by Radlett-based agent Jean Dennis, formerly of Studio Quadro.
