AN evening has been organised to provide support for family and friends of servicemen and members of the territorial army serving in the Gulf.

The North Bushey branch of the British Legion are holding a "Thank You" evening for poppy sellers on Monday, April 14, but have decided to extend the evening to make it a forces orientated event.

Mr Alec Beech, president of the branch said: "The money from poppies goes to those who fought in the war, but there is a war going on now and we realised we could help.

"There is support for the families of army members but nothing for those in the Territorial Army and reservists who have gone to fight."

In addition to handing out certficates and refreshments to poppy sellers and entertainment from an organist, the British Legion will try to offer both financial and emotional support to those who have been hard hit by their loved ones leaving.

The event will take place at 7.30pm at North Bushey Royal British Legion on Bushey Mill Lane.
