WOMEN and older staff who are disadvantaged in the workplace are to be helped by a new range of training schemes launched last Friday.
Hertfordshire's MEP Richard Howitt kicked off the package of courses in a visit to the organisers Business Link, based in Grosvenor Road, St Albans.
In a programme designed to be flexible so as to fit around home responsibilities, local manageresses will receive training to help them break through the glass ceiling.
Older managers will be taught how to improve their skills to take on new roles.
People with special needs will also be helped to set up business.
The scheme is being funded by the European Social Fund.
Mr Howitt said: "I am delighted that the funding is being put to such good use."
