NATIONALLY the Conservatives may be concerned with modernising their image but at a local level they are experiencing difficulty even keeping their website up to date.

Two councillors who retired a year and a half ago are included as serving members on the Hertfordshire Conservatives website.

Former Chorleywood East member Councillor Carole Cohen, has mysteriously gained an extra 'l' on the end her first name appearing as Councillor Carolel Cohen.

And a previous chairman of Three Rivers District Council, Graham Williams, who retired in May 2001, is still listed as the Conservative representative for Rickmansworth.

A spelling mistake perhaps out-shining the famous blunder made by Dan Quayle, erroneously adding an 'e' to a child's spelling of potato while on the campaign trail, can also be found.

Conservative group leader Councillor Amrit Mediratta and member for Moor Park and Eastbury has both his names spelt incorrectly appearing as Amirt Medretta.

Councillor Mediratta said he would be looking into the mistakes.

And leader of Three Rivers District Council Liberal Democrat Mrs Ann Shaw said: "What do you expect the Conservatives are behind the times on most things."

The Hertfordshire Conservatives website www.hertsswconservatives.com/localgov/Threerivers/index.htm is at present inaccessible.
