Borehamwood band Stifla entertained shoppers in Shenley Road on Saturday with a live performance.
The band played during a 90 degrees Fahrenheit heatwave outside the Cash Converters shop, near The Point, watched by dozens of shoppers who enjoyed covers of hits by the Beatles and the Stereophonics, as well as the band's own songs.
Lead guitarist Rob Hall said: "We played for about two-and-a-half hours. We are trying to get our name across to people, so we have played across Hertfordshire, but never thought of playing in the street."
The band, including lead vocalist Daniel Siggins, drummer Gareth Siggins and bass player Gary Dobson, got an early break courtesy of Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council, who organised events where young bands could play live to an audience on professional equipment.
Since forming around 18 months ago, the band has played in pubs and clubs across London, and now plans to play more outdoor concerts, in towns such as Borehamwood or in Covent Garden.
