A PUBLIC meeting to discuss the fate of Wall Hall Nursery School will take place next month.

The meeting, on Monday, July 8, at 7.30pm, will be held at The Radlett Centre in Aldenham Avenue, Radlett. It follows a similar consultation at the County Hall in Hertford last week.

Parents are calling for the Beacon-status nursery school in Aldenham to be relocated to Newberries School in Radlett when it closes in December 2003, following the sale of the Wall Hall College site by Hertfordshire County Council to developer Octagon.

Mrs Michelle Tuck, whose three-year-old son Billy attends the school, said: "The parents are convinced relocation to the Newberries site would be a huge success if the county council was prepared to support it. We cannot afford to lose the school's expertise and formidable teaching team."

However, at a meeting last month to discuss development plans for Wall Hall College, Aldenham Parish Councillor Elizabeth Wackrow expressed concern the relocation of the nursery to a local primary school would increase traffic congestion in the parish.

Attempting to reassure Mrs Wackrow, Mr Graham Bell for Octagon said the nursery should be moved to Knutsford School in Watford.

However, this was ruled out of order by Hertsmere Borough Councillor Martin Saunders, who was chairing the meeting.

He said: "No decision has been made with regard to the nursery."
