A ski-crazy soldier from Radlett finished as the runner-up in the Army Snowboarding Championships for women in Austria recently.
Second Lieutenant Nicola Bass, aged 26, who serves with the Adjutant General's Corps, was one of 133 soldiers who took part in the championships.
She finished in second place after competing in four disciplines, slalom, giant slalom, duel slalom and downhill racing, at the Stubai Glacier.
Nicola, who went to Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls in Elstree, said: "We are lucky in the army because sport is encouraged and we get time off for this type of event."
Nicola started skiing at the age of eight and took up snowboarding six years ago
