VERLEA ATHLETICS CLUB enjoyed their best ever cross-country turnout in the latest round of the Chingford League Cross-Country at Trent Park on Saturday, December 15.
Andy Slack produced the performance of the day to finish in third position in the men's race his highest ever finish while Markus Allen continued his recent improvement in form to finish in 27th.
Mandy Brown emerged victorious from the ladies' race, beating off stiff competition from Heathside AC's Vanessa Parry on the last two laps, with Mandy eventually sneaking it by half-a-yard.
An understrength Ladies team finished in second position overall and with a full contingent, will be looking to pick up a few victories in the near future.
Verlea take to Highams Park in the next Chingford meeting on Saturday, December 29, and more immediately, Gosling Park on Christmas Day, for the Christmas Day Handicap.
