SUN POSTAL might not be reaching the standards required by manager Terry Hows, but Saturday's (Deceber 15) 2-1 away victory at Wormley Rovers ensured they made the most of London Lions' weekend off to reclaim first place in the Premier Division.

"We're just delighted to have won, really," Hows said. "We're not playing as well as we can."

After 15 minutes, Ben Cowen won and converted a penalty to give Sun the lead, but although they continued to dominate their opposition, they were unable to breach the Wormley defence again in the opening period.

A more even contest ensued in the second half, as the visitors dropped off the pace, but Cowen was again the pivotal force, and with ten minutes to go he won the ball in midfield before feeding Paul Haynes, who doubled Sun's advantage at the second attempt.

Wormley pulled one back with a deflected header five minutes before the end, but the three points were never in jeopardy for a Sun side that might expect a sterner test this weekend, when they travel to fourth-placed Oxhey Jets.

Oxhey have a similar story there, where manager John Elliot is concerned about his team's form despite a 4-2 win at Met Police.

"We got the win because of their errors," he said. "We're not on form, not looking dangerous.

A place above the Jets, Bedmond maintained the pressure on the leaders with a 1-0 victory over Elliott Star, while elsewhere in the division, matches between Chipperfield and St Peter's and Croxley Guild and Hatfield were postponed due to frosty pitches.
