A YEAR of hard work by children at a Garston church, culminated in a celebration at an Investiture service held on Saturday, December 8.

The Stanborough Park Adventurer Club is part of the world-wide Seventh-day Adventist Church pathfinder and adventurer movement celebrating 52 years of pathfindering this year.

Mr Bernell Bussue, of Wildwood Avenue, Bricket Wood, who is the pathfinder leader, welcomed Pastor Paul Tompkins, the church's European youth director, to officiate at the service and present the awards to the youngsters.

Mr Bussue explained: "The Adventurer curriculum is organised around the four basic relationships in a child's life my God, my Self, my Family and my World.

"There are 46 awards that the children can work towards, ranging from Astronomer through bible, road safety, troubadour and wise steward.

"Within this framework, our children are given help and guidance that will give them a foundation on which to develop love and respect for God, themselves, the family, their place in the family unit and the wonders (plus the dangers) of the world we share."

Fourteen children were invested in one of the four categories in the club, while another 11 children received award badges and certificates.
