An amazing 13 babies born to staff of The North London Hospice in the past year has resulted in a staffing crisis.

The hospice in Woodside Avenue, Woodside Park, has seven staff away on maternity leave and four out of eight nurses on its community team expecting babies.

Penny Montgomery, administrative director of the hospice, said: "There is a national shortage of nurses anyway but we are in dire need of nurses. The hospice is short of qualified, experienced nurses and we have an active recruitment campaign so this large number of babies is greeted with mixed feelings."
