Bombers 2 WHS Rejects 2

Hawksmoor Carlsberg Tetley

Five-a-Side League Division OneOnce again the Bombers' frustrating inconsistancy came to the fore at the Hawksmoor Centre on Sunday evening.

After the Lord Mayor's Showings against both Elliots and Five-Bellies in their previous two outings, Bombers' play showed more than a hint of the steamy stuff against the lowly Rejects, and they twice squandered the lead.

It remains to be seen whether such generosity has cost them the runners-up spot in the table.

A goalless first half saw Bombers enjoy more of the possession, without creating too many clear openings, but they came alive after the break following the introduction of ace marksman Sean Donaghey.

The veteran striker holds the club's all time goalscoring record, and he improved upon that early in the second period when he turned onto Dave Rawlings' wily free kick.

Rejects equalised after keeper Edwards had blocked a shot, but Donaghey, jetlagged after only stepping off a plane from his Florida retirement home that morning, restored the lead.

Bombers should have been trousering the three points by now, but failed to kill the game and Rejects netted a late opportunist leveller.

BOMBERS: Edwards, D Rawlings, White, S Rawlings, Jackson. Subs: Donaghey, Gilson.
