SUNDAY saw a host of Bishop's Stortford Running Club athletes in action at the Welwyn ten-mile road race, organised by Garden City Joggers.

The race started in the rain but conditions soon dried out.

First home for Stortford was Peter Beatty in a time of 61min 30sec.

He was followed by Tim Webb (62:41), Tim Kelly (63:52), Liam Sheils (66:05), Paul Chapman (67:35), Chris Tate (68:12), Jenny Vartan (68:59), Emma Nixon (76:30), Jim Shipman (77:30), Mike Smith (78:32), Paul Row (78:38), Maureen Wakeling (88:03), Anne Gauld-Clark (88:50), Colin Steenson (92:00), Lorraine Evans (94:18), Peter Amos (94:38), Helen Knuth (97:30), Mary Poynter (101:31) and Christina Hine (101:41).

The club is always keen to recruit new members and men and women of all ages are welcome.

The runners meet every Wednesday at 7.30pm and on Sundays at 9.30am at the Hockerill Sports Club in Beldams Lane. Call Chris Tate on 01279 503121 for further information.
