Police dispersed a large gang of troublemakers which gathered in Borehamwood's Furzehill Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.
One witness reported about 20 youths gathered in the street, and several police vehicles on the scene to deal with them.
A Hertfordshire police spokeswoman said at about 1.15am there was a fracas involving a large group of male youths, including people squaring up to each other, but no offences were committed and when police arrived the troublemakers were dispersed.
Police had been alerted by calls from the public.
The trouble followed an earlier reported incident, at about 1.05am, outside The Rhythm Room, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, when some people leaving the venue claimed they were kicked and punched by a group of youths. The victims reported the incident to police, but later withdrew the allegations.
