ACTIVE volunteers are wanted to take part in a charity bike ride which aims to raise enough money to preserve the county's crumbling churches.
Organisers are looking for people to cycle, run or walk between as many churches in Hertfordshire as possible on September 9, to raise funds for much-needed repairs.
The venture unites all the individual churches in the region with the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Historic Churches Trust, which has overall responsibility for maintaining the historic monuments.
Half of the money that each rider raises will go to the trust and the rest will be given to the church of their choice.
Around 500 churches are expected to participate in the day and open their doors to greet tired cyclists and walkers with well-deserved refreshments.
All of the four Redbourn churches will have signing-in areas, and sponsorship forms and suggested route guides can be picked up from either Redbourn Methodist Church or St Mary's Church.
