Parts of Borehamwood will lose direct bus services to Watford under changes due to come into force in September.
But operators are also promising more reliable services within Borehamwood, school buses to the new Hertswood School and buses adapted to the needs of disabled people and pushchairs.
The changes are due to start on September 4.
Currently, many buses in Borehamwood are operated as part of a network serving Watford, but operator Arriva plans to sever the link so that most buses will stop running to and from Watford, and will be confined to local routes in the Borehamwood area.
Areas which will lose their direct bus service to Watford include: Studio Way, Hillside Avenue and Organ Hall Road, in Borehamwood, The Composers' Estate, in Elstree, and Well End.
Instead there will be a Watford service which will run every half-an-hour, instead of every 20 minutes, from Tesco, in Shenley Road, along Shenley Road, past Elstree and Borehamwood Station, along Elstree High Street to Watford.
