It was a case of get your kit on for 80 young footballers as Boreham Wood officially unveiled their new strip last Saturday afternoon.
The lucky kids from Wood's youth teams set-up, and the club's first team, modelled the new home and away strips for the 2000/01 season, which were designed by eight-year-old Rebecca Remnant, from Hillside Avenue, and Lee Cope, aged 13, from Alban Crescent.
These two talented youngsters produced the winning entries in a design-a-kit competition organised by Wood earlier this year, which had 160 entries from across Hertsmere.
Rebecca and Lee's entries were judged by Wood's first team manager Colin Payne and commercial manager Dennis Pobjoy.
The winning entries made the grade as they were very close to a design the club already had in mind for the new strips.
Both Rebecca and Lee got to keep their winning designs and were made mascots for that afternoon's friendly against Rushden & Diamonds.
Dennis praised all the entries as he said: 'The quality was absolutely outstanding. The work and detail was incredible, so technical. There were cloth entries and computer-designed ones.'
