Two youngsters from Elstree have jetted over to the States to represent Britain at swimming in this summer's Maccabi Games.

Darren and Samantha Brova, both dedicated swimmers, are part of the UK contingent competing at the games being held in Cincinnati then New Jersey from August 10 to 25. This is 13-year-old Samantha's first trip to the games though she is looking forward to it. Both Darren, 15, and Samantha are pupils at Parmiters' School in Watford.

The siblings, who train six days-a-week, used to swim for Barnet Copthall and now compete for Harrow and Wealdstone.

Borehamwood teenager Hannah Minsky has realised her dream of representing Britain at the Maccabi Games in America - thanks to sponsorship money raised by her family and businesses. Now Hannah is in sunny Florida, as part of the UK seven-a-side soccer squad, which has notched two victories so far in the first stage of the Maccabi Games' football tournament - defeating Boca Ratan White 6-1 and Jacksonville 6-0.

An encouraging start for the British squad as they head for the tournament's second stage, being played next week in Richmond, Virginia.
