Otter Water Polo Club 10

Borehamwood Water Polo Club 0

London League Division Three

Wood's league campaign hit the skids when they faced the well-organised Otters from the University of London recently.

As slick as the animal they are named after, Otter toyed with Wood and slammed ten shots past keeper Steve Chambers.

Though to give nine-man Wood their due, they marked well and had a couple of chances to net through Danny Hawthorne and Dax Cain.

Yet the writing was on the wall, as Wood keeper Chambers said of the superior Otters: 'They could have stepped up their game at any time.'

Wood's league programme doesn't resume until September 7 with a visit from Bexley II.

The defeat at the hands of Otter was followed by a 4-4 friendly against Biggleswade Water Polo Club.

Wood had gone from being 2-0 down to assuming a 4-2 lead. However, they lost their advantage in the final quarter when hosts Biggleswade fired twice to balance the books.

Borehamwood WPC is looking for new players, both youngsters and adults. If you're interested phone Steve Chambers on 01923 675834 after 6pm.
