ST Peter's opened their Division One campaign with a 2-2 draw against a young Welwyn side.
In hot conditions the new-look Saints outfit failed to gel as their youthful opponents looked the more confident of the two sides going forward.
Quicker to the ball Welwyn created numerous attacking options, but failed in front of goal, rarely troubling Saints keeper Paul Marsh. Against the run of play Saints took the lead on the half hour, David Yeo heading home Steve McFarland's cross.
The Saints continued to give the ball away after the break, but added a second goal. A Tony Gauthier break from defence, and a good pass into the penalty area, found Yeo, who put away his second goal.
Lack of concentration caused the Saints to concede two goals during the final 15 minutes, enabling Welwyn a share of the spoils.
