WEST HERTS continued in their quest for a hat-trick of HA Trophy wins with a thumping 10-1 win over Manchester on Sunday.

The 16-man squad stayed in a hotel overnight but it took them 20 minutes to break the deadlock and Neil Appleton's opener was the catalyst for Stags to play some of their best hockey of the season.

Malcolm Day flicked the ball in from a short corner and as half-time approached Appleton netted his second.

Three second-half goals from the familiar source of Graham Day settled the issue and his hat-trick was interrupted by an Andy Griffin goal from a short corner.

The eighth came from Thomas Shuster who returned the compliment to Cormac Hodgkinson who notched the ninth. The scoring was completed by Graham Day's fourth before Manchester gained a consolation from a penalty corner.

Skipper Nick Doman said: "I was very pleased with our performance and we played the best passing hockey I have seen."
