CONCERNS over local employment and late-night noise led to the deferral of a decision for a development in Kings Langley in July.

The application was for the erection of commercial/industrial buildings on land opposite the Ovaltine site on Station Road.

The plans, submitted by Gleeson Properties (Kingley) Ltd, would be a mix of office, industrial, and storage and distribution use.

It was noted that the applicant was seeking flexibility across the site for these three uses, and the committee raised the concern that a large percentage would be used for storage only and not for office use, reducing the number of employment opportunities on the site.

It was suggested by members that a restriction could be placed on the amount of the site being used for storage and distribution use.

The application was deferred to allow for clarification on the amount of the site to be office use and storage use, and how restrictions on HGV traffic at night could be enforced.

The application will be decided at the next development control committee meeting, to be held at Three Rivers House, Northway, Rickmansworth, on Thursday, August 18.
