A BUSINESSMAN from Moor Park has been flung into the spotlight after being given his own business show on a satellite channel.

Kemal Butt, 41, started broadcasting Karobar which means business in Urdu on Vectone, an integrated Muslim/English channel on Sky during October.

He co-hosts a breakfast show on the same channel three days a week. He said: "I like a challenge and this was an offer too good to refuse.

"It is great to be able to share my experiences with people and also to meet high-profile business people and learn from them."

Mr Butt runs a successful property finance company in the city, and is also in the running to be a candidate for next year's Three Rivers District Council's by-election to represent Moor Park.

He said: "I have a lot to do with local people and I believe that whether you are a councillor or not, it is vital that you help people if you can."

As a businessman, television presenter, husband, and father of two sons, you might think that Mr Butt wouldn't have time for anything else, but he said that he thrives on being busy.

He tries to get involved with local issues and has helped address shopkeepers concerns' about parking issues in Main Avenue in Moor Park. Now regular traffic wardens patrol the area.

He is presently working to resolve the matter of a road leak on the corner of Bourne End Road and Batchworth Lane by regular correspondence with Three Rivers District Council.

He said: "It is not a duty but a privilege to be able to address the local community's needs and we must all play our part in helping and improving our society.

"I very strongly believe that it does not matter what our backgrounds are or where we come from, what is more important is where we're going.

"We must live happily together, work hard and enjoy our lives in this beautiful country that prides itself on its multiculturalism."

He is trying to adapt to his new-found fame. He said: "I was walking through Wembley last week and two young guys came up and said they had seen me on Vectone, and really liked the show.

"I have to say I was pleased to get such positive feedback, but also slightly overwhelmed that they recognised me."

Vectone is on Sky channel 806.

Karobar is broadcast at 7pm until 8pm on Saturdays.
