MONEY raised through the efforts of organisers and runners in the Abbots Langley Tough Ten has been distributed to local beneficiaries.
In total, £8,000 was raised by the event, which took place last October.
Many schools participated in the 1.5k race for under 11-year-olds, all abilities ran the 5k around the Manor House grounds, while those up for a greater challenge competed in the hilly 10k.
Alistair Cairns, from Bedmond, who was left paralysed following a motorcycle crash in India, was given £2,500 towards a new hi-tech wheelchair; the Vine House surgery in Abbots Langley was given £1,480 towards a 24-hour blood pressure monitor; and £1,100 went to Harefield Hospital to buy special weighing scales for children.
The Tough Ten committee also gave £400 each to West Herts Against Crime and Breakspeare School and £200 each to the Friends of South West Herts Samaritans, The Monday Club and South West Herts Narrowboat Project.
