A man from Northwood is running the London Marathon later this month, in support of a heart muscle disease charity.
Jamie Carter, 29, is raising money for the Cardiomyopathy Association, a charity that provides information and support to families affected by the disease.
Cardiomyopathy is a heart muscle disease that affects people of all ages, including babies. It is usually inherited and is the main reason for heart transplants.
The insurance broker from Hawes Close was inspired by his friend’s girlfriend who has the condition, and whose mother died after a heart transplant.
Jamie, a keen footballer took up running a few years ago to get fitter, and hopes to run the marathon on April 25 in under four hours.
“I was inspired after watching last year’s London Marathon,” he said. “I chose the Cardiomyopathy Association as my charity because it is very dear to my friend’s family.”
Jamie is hoping to raise more than £1,500 for the Cardiomyopathy Association.
