Thankfully the sun shone yesterday as we hosted 2 parties en route to the Saracens game at Wembley

The first arrived at 11am having set off from Fullerians rugby club at 9.30 with the aim of walking from Fullerians to Wembley to raise money for the Henry Fraser Trust.

Henry is a very talented 17 year old who had an accident this summer whilst on holiday with his friends, he dived into the surf and damaged his spinal cord leaving him unable to move his arms and legs.

Henry is a superb athlete with a particular passion for rugby. He was a regular member of Dulwich College 1st XV and has represented the County, London & South East Division and Saracens Academy. He is still training and still has lots of goals to achieve – just different to the ones he had before.

Henry played for one of the most successful youth teams ever to come out of Fullerians winning County Cups, Division 1 titles, numerous 7 & 10 a side tournaments and last season being crowned the best under 17 team in London and the South East Counties and losing the semi final of the National Under 17 Cup by one point.

I know all of this as 2 of our staff at The Three Crowns, Stuart & James played alongside Henry and it was good to see them and team mates Tom, Joel, Calum, Jack and Kieron first through the door followed by an army of almost 200 Saracens, Knights in Armour and Sarrie The Camel and, bringing up the rear a youthful Frazer Ansell.

Our contribution of 200 bottles of chilled water was welcomed and thanks to our generous regulars who donated £100 from their quiz fund.

Next to arrive was Andy Wild and a well drilled party of army colleagues, friends and relations who were using the occasion to celebrate Andy`s forthcoming wedding.

With military precision Andy had planned every last detail and all participants had been given a schedule for the day including details of fines for misbehaviour eg not finishing a drink, not getting a round in when it`s your turn, opening a bag of crisps the wrong way up etc.

The schedule called for departure from The Three Crowns at 1445 BST so it was no surprise when at 1510 BST the party was to be found taking on emergency Vitamen C rations in the form of Mandarin & Cranberry Sambuca shots before setting off ( slightly out of step ) for Wembley.
