Ahmadiyya Muslim Association host peace conference at Kings Langley school

A peace conference has been held by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association at a school in Kings Langley.

The organisation, based in Watford, held the event at Kings Langley Primary School in Common Lane, on Sunday, April 25.

A number of residents from across the county attended the event to hear Faiz Ahmad Zahid, the regional missionary for Hertfordshire, deliver a speech about Islamic perspective on loyalty to country and religion.

Visitors were also introduced briefly to the teachings of Islam and their relevance in modern society.

Following this, a question and answer session was held with four representatives from the Ahmadiyya community.

Lutful Islam, a spokesman for the Ahmadiyya movement, founded in the nineteenth century, said: “There are over 90 branches of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community throughout the UK and they actively work to spread the peaceful message of Islam.

“It is our belief that tolerance and respect are the foundations of a peaceful society and we are committed to working with people of all faiths to enable everyone to practice their religion without hindrance.

“All guests were very happy at this opportunity to meet the Ahmadiyya community.”

That was a well advertised meeting. Cannot wait to see the posts that appear here and how many get withdrawn! This will probably be the first. Kings Langley must be a hub for Islamic extremists, why dont you go to West Watford or parts of North Watford and tell the Muslims and victims of 9-11 and 7-7 Bombings in London that you are really a peace loving nation. You really not make a difference in Kings Langley, and no matter what you say, parts of the Islamic religion is pure evil and preaches hate and death to the non-believer. So come on all you do-gooders lets hear your comments, until the next atrocity happens....

@watfordboy, we are engaged with all parts of the community to remove misconceptions about Islam. Similar questions were asked by the guests in Kings Langley and they seemed happy with the answers..

@anon34, the school was paid for hiring the facilities. It was held on a Sunday and the school had nothing to do with it.

@luft. I accept your comments, but why do Muslims continue to segregate themselves from the rest of the community? The first generation of Muslims were and probably still are hard working and up-right citizens, but a majority the younger generation do nothing for race relations in this country apart from mock the land they are born in.

Open letter to the Muslim electors of Watford

Dear Electors

I should like to remind you of the Liberal Democrats' support of the Afghan war. To quote their leader Clegg's words "As leader of the Liberal Democrats, I have been keen to maintain the cross-party consensus on Afghanistan that formed after September 11, and has not faltered since". He said this in July last year. Much more recently he stated his support for a continuation of the war for at least another twelve months, and no doubt he would be willing to barter his party's votes for extending the war for as long as the leaders of Labour and the Conservatives wish to continue to bow down to American foreign policy.

If you wish to show solidarity with your co-religionists in Afghanistan you should vote for the British National Party's candidate at the general election, since the BNP is the only party to pledge immediate withdrawal of British troops from Afghanistan, other than the homosexuality-promot

ing Green party.

Although it is true that when the BNP forms its administration it will prevent the building of further mosques in Britain, surely 1,500 is sufficient. The burqa shall also be banned in public places, but this applies in many Muslim countries, and in any case most Muslim women do not wear the burqa.

Yours faithfully

Dr A Emerson
BNP parliamentary candidate for Watford

@ de montford.. Mosques are for worship.. Burqa is a personal choice..And BNP is also the only party which is going to pay people like me £50k to leave.

To all who have nothing but negative comments. Did you even attend the function? I think not. If you read the report by Amie, she says “All guests were very happy at this opportunity to meet the Ahmadiyya community.” You would have had your opportunity to raise your concerns and opinions if you actually go to these meetings. You have nothing to offer apart from uninformed opinions. What's the difference between Watford Boy, the BNP and so called Islamic terrorist organisations? the answer is not much. These types of organisations preach hatred and intolerance, in the name of God or in the name of Humanity. There is clearly something deeply wrong with that approach. I congratulate the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in continuing to propagate a message of peace in these most turbulent times. I would also like to encourage reporters like Amie in trying to bring media attention to initiatives by any organisation to promote peace during times when a Peace forum, or any kind of humanist based function is simply not sensational enough to capture mainstream media attention.
