A date for plea hearing and trial have been set for a Watford man, charged with more than 20 offences of child abuse, including the rape of a child under 13.
Barry McCloud, of Tudor Drive, appeared in St Albans Crown Court this morning, where the date was set for a six day trial starting November 16.
The 53-year-old has charged with 22 offences including three counts of rape of a child under 13.
In addition, he was charged with gross indecency, administering a stupefying substance with the purpose of committing sexual abuse and the downloading of indecent child abuse images.
The offences are alleged to have taken place in Goa, India, between 2005-2007. They centre on a girl, aged between nine and ten at the time, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
The possibility of a live television link-up with the girl was discussed at this morning's preliminary hearing.
Mr McCloud was remain in police custody before a plea hearing at St Albans Crown Court on August 4.
