More than £1,000 has been donated to a floral display organisation, to help purchase new planters to display outside Croxley shops.
Croxley county councillor Steve Drury has awarded £1,200 from his locality budget to Flowers4Croxley, which run by volunteers to enhance the local environment.
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
Councillor Drury said: "It is always heartening to see local groups working to improve the look of their own towns or villages.
“It is not just about appearances, but is also a way of encouraging more people to take pride in their home environment and to develop an attitude of ownership."
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire.
