An 11-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after a motorcycle crash in Carpenders Park this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Carpenders Avenue and Oxhey Lane at about 12pm when the bike collided with a Ford Fiesta.

The boy, who was riding as a passenger on the back of the motorcycle, suffered serious head injuries and has been taken to a London hospital.

The rider of the bike, a man in his 40s, was taken to Watford General Hospital with leg injuries.

East of England Ambulance representative Gary Sanderson said: “Due to the extent of the injuries the boy received, the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance was called upon, which landed in a field adjacent to the scene.

“The boy was stabilised by the paramedics and doctors before being airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.” The female driver of the car was uninjured.
